I was born
in Ukraine and was thinking that I'm Ukrainian. Because of this and because our
family was Christian I never associated myself with Jews.Of course I knew that
Jesus (Yeshua) was born in a Jewish family , but I thought that it was only because
such was the will of the Father. He might be willing for Him to be born also in
any other nation. Later as I studied the Word of God I found more and more that
Jewish people and the state of Israel have a special place in God's plans and
purposes but I didn't know what could be my part in it. In 1993 when I was
already pastoring one church in Ukraine , during my ministry trip in the USA,
I visited The Door Fellowship in Williamsport, PA (Pastor Wayne Holcomb).Here
during the service , one of the pastor's sons gave the Word of the Lord to me
saying that the time will come when God will use me for the salvation of Jews
and Israel. Still after that Word I didn't try to do anything in this direction
. I just waited . I thought if it was really from God , He would do something
in my life to confirm that and to move me into that kind of ministry. So I just
continued to minister as a pastor. Sometimes God also used me as a travelling
Evangelist-Psalmist and Bible teacher. In between 1995-1996 I visited my grandfather's
friend who was very close to my grandpa before his death. During our conversation
he said to me: " Alexei! I want to tell you something that I kept inside of
me many years but cannot keep it inside anymore .If I do , when I'll die this
secret which belongs to you and your family will go to the grave with me."
" What is that?" I asked him. " When I was close to your grandfather", - he
continued his story, -" he told me that he was born in a Jewish family and that
he even was circumcised as a Jew . However, because of having to escape from terrible
persecutions(pogroms) of Jews (later he told me that our grantfather's family
moved from Bulgaria travelling through Basarabia which is now Moldova and Romania)
his grandfather decided to change his Jewish last name to "Basarab" to hide our
Jewish roots . This was done in order to be protected from possible persecutions
in the future and he warned all of the family to keep it secret. My grandfather's
friend told me that my grandfather couldn't remember from which place exactly
his family moved from in Southern Ukraine, or which was his previous last name
.Now it seems impossible for our family to find any documents to confirm our origin.
Since the time I found out that I am a Jew , many things began to change in
my life. If I would have known about my Jewishness before the Word of prophecy
was given , it would have seemed very natural for me to be used among the Jewish
people . I could have thought that that man said these words just from his heart
or mind because maybe I had told him that I'm Jewish. However , no one of us knew
about that. So now I understand that God revealed to me that He wants to use me
for the salvation of Jews , even before I found about my Jewish roots in order
that I could know later that it is really His will. Knowing my Jewishness
, I continued to minister as a pastor untill the summer of 1998 . Then I felt
strongly in my heart that God was urging me to move from pastoral ministry to
full time travelling in music-evangelistic ministry. if I felt that if I did not
move quickly, I would lose something very important. So in obedience to the Lord
, I gave my church to other pastors and moved to the Ukrainian capital of Kiev
without having any money or place to stay. I was totally trusting God's will and
His care for me. In Kiev I joined Word of Faith Church which was and is now pastored
by my friend Pastor Sunday Adelaja. .Realizing that as a travelling Evangelist
, I needed to have authority over me. I decided to submit myself as a minister
under Pastor Sunday's authority who already has an internationally recognized
Apostolic ministry. Also God put in the heart of one christian businessman to
help me for one year to pay for the rent of a flat for me. In Kiev I was also
invited a Messianic congregation where I was singing some of my songs and where
God began to give me some understanding of Messianic ministry and of it's difference
from just being "Christian". Since that move , God started to move me into
ministry in different countries such as Hungary, Belgium, Switzerland, Bulgaria...
During one of my trips in Hungary , when I was ministering there in Emmanuel
church , one Hungarian brother named Robert (who speaks only Hungarian and didn't
know anything about my Jewish origin) gave the word of confirmation from God that
the time is coming when He will begin to use me for the salvation of Jews and
Israel. Praise the Lord! It was exactly according to what I received from God
in 1993 in USA. It was the beginning of God's steps moving me into Messianic ministry.
Another surprise and God's plan for me in this direction was that during another
trip in Budapest , I found that Deputy Director of Hear O' Israel Ministries David
Levine (whom I met in Zaporozhye,Ukraine during Messianic Festival of Hear O'
Isarel) moved to live with his wife Sandy in Budapest. So by the grace of God
I found his phone number and we met again. David helped me to be connected to
and to visit Messianic Jewish Bible Institute in Budapest (MJBI)and to be involved
in a Messianic Congregation in Budapest where I could grow in understanding of
myself as a Messianic Jew and as Messianic minister according to God given prophecies.
Also during my visit to MJBI I met my dear American brother Michael Quinn ,
Founder of Resurrection Life Ministries who also stays in Budapest. Brother Michael
has great experience and understanding of Messianic ministry and I'm very thankful
to God that He continues to use him in my life as a Jew and in the growth of my
Messianic ministry so that I could be used more and more by God to lead His people
to know their Messiah. "To the Jews first", says God's Word. But not only to the
Jews. God doesn't create two different bodies, two brides, but "...OF TWAIN ONE
NEW MAN"(Eph.2:15). So, continue being used by God for the Revival in Christian
churches around the world I just have God's order for my life and I'm ready to
be used by Him "TO THE JEWS FIRST". In the year 1987 I had a revelation from
God that He wants to use me in anointed music ministry to bring Revival through
worship. Since that time God blessed me to produce several music albums with the
songs given by Ruah HaKodesh (The Holy Spirit). Thousands were saved both through
tapes and live performance. Now, when Messianic ministry is the vital part
of my life, God gives me new Jewish melodies, tunes and I experience a special
anointing on my life in bringing revival to God's people through the new wave
of Messianic Praise and Worship. So, I'm recorded now my first Messianic songs.
I arrived and stayed in the State of Israel, so I'm glad and really happy that
God already fulfills His Word in my life, as He said: "So is the word that
issues from My mouth: Glory be to God of Israel, and may His Shalom abide in His
nation through acceptance of His Beloved Son Yeshua HaMashiah! AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
